Animation adventures – Explore digital arts and create your own fun stop motion animation with media artist David Pennay. You’ll create an animation and then create and record the soundtrack in tomorrow’s Prophets workshop.
Thursday
Stylefree Sounds with Prophets – Work with Groovy G (Dale Gorfinkel) and VizaVee (Aviva Endean) from Prophets and explore a stylefree sound world. You’ll create new sounds and music to add to the animation you made through experimenting with microphones, tweaking keyboards, drum machines, loop pedals and other sonic fun!
Monster plants – Make your very own ‘monster plant’ to take home with artist Emma Grace. You’ll learn basic plant care, see some inspiring examples and then create your own Monster Planter using tin cans.
Program for children 10 – 12 years:
Tuesday
Street Art – Over two days learn the techniques of the spray can and discover some of street art’s freehand and stencil techniques with graffiti artist SEARious Jones.
Wednesday
Prophets and Stylefree music video – Get up close and personal in the world of Prophets. Over this day workshop collaborate closely with Groovy G (Dale Gorfinkel) and VizaVee (Aviva Endean) in a stylefree world of sound, music and effects. You’ll get hands on with electronic music equipment including various microphones, drum machines, loop pedals, keyboards and other instruments. Bring your group sounds together in a lo-fi music video to take home and share your own stylefree creation.
Thursday
Augmented Reality (AR) – Explore the world of augmented reality through using the latest apps with David Pennay. You’ll explore a theme and make an augmented reality video pop out in the FCAC gallery.
‘My kids have a lot of fun. I believe it’s really important to be involved in the arts as there’s not enough in school and this really supports their wider education. At FCAC they’re surrounded by a whole lot of other artists, exhibitions and there are events always happening. They are immersed in an environment that’s artistic and helps them ‘grow up’; it’s an extension of their schooling.’ – Ani Mattila, parent of two
SHAP is presented as part of our Arts Learning program.
