Extreme Arts: School Holiday Arts Program – July
Fill your school holidays with extreme arts!
Our April school holiday program is exploding with creative and participatory workshops in animation, circus, digital arts, pottery, and theatre. Children aged 6 – 12 years will create and collaborate alongside artists from the community to learn skills, make new friends and have fun.
Younger children (6 – 9 years) will partake in two workshops per day and the older children (10 – 12 years) participate in full-day intensives.
All artists and support workers are required to complete Working with Children checks.

Before Care: 8:30am – 10am
After Care: 3pm – 5pm

Please Note: Children take three breaks during the day. Please pack enough snacks and lunch!
Program for children 6 – 9 years:
Hula hoop dance
Ignite creative expression through play, giggles, dance, movement…and hula hoops of course! Donna Sparx will bring a hoop swag of tricks to share so kids can discover their inner hoop star through the magical combination of hoops and dance.
Stop motion animation
Get creative through ‘pixelation’ stop motion animation with media artist David Pennay in the FCAC Performance Space.
Join visual artist Mito Elias in a journey through music and instrument making. Up-cycle and recycle and create your very own percussion and wind instrument. Workshop culminates in an all-in jam session!
Explore the world of physical comedy through clowning, improvisation and games. This energetic workshop embraces the silly and tickles the funny bones. David Maney is a founding member of comedy ensemble PO PO MO CO and clown duo Justice & Trainwreck.
Experienced circus performers, Franca Stadler and Jenny McLeod, will get you balancing, tumbling, and undertaking aerial tricks.
Immerse yourself in world of cardboard boxes of varying shapes and sizes to build own environment via movement with dancer Jonathan Sinatra. The theme is inspired by the popular kids’ game and is the virtual experience of Minecraft.
Program for children 10 – 12 years:
Learn the techniques of the spray can and discover some of street art’s freehand and stencil techniques with graff artist SEARious Jones.
Dig further into sound and sonic art with James Hullick and members of FCAC’s Amplified Elephants. You’ll work with a range of electronic instruments and effects to create a collaborative sound piece. No formal music knowledge required!
Delve into green screen technology and create your own backgrounds to superimpose yourself into new worlds with media artist David Pennay.
