Guided by established mosaic artist Helen Bodycomb, Guerrilla Mosaics is a course about making mosaics for unusual (and sometimes unsanctioned!) locations. Helen will commence with an overview of leaders in the area of guerrilla mosaics including Invader and Jim Bachor, and guide participants in developing a small range of technical options and snappy ideas perfect for the quick-stick-and-run mosaicist. These mosaics can also be installed slowly, legally and with dignity and grace. Lunch supplied both days.
All materials provided.
WHEN: Saturday 15 and 22 June, 10:30am – 4pm
COST: $300 (2 days)
About FCAC tutor: Helen Bodycomb
Helen delights in passing on all she knows about art and making mosaics to motivated adults who are hungry for information about this unique, historic medium. After 6 years of full-time fine art university studies and over 25 years of full-time professional practice, Helen is well-qualified to teach what she knows and is currently completing PhD in Visual Art (by Practice-led Research) at La Trobe University (completion expected 2019). Helen’s studio workshops are designed to be an immersive experience with technical and historic information. Helen works hard to ensure that the whole weekend provides high quality learning with an utterly enjoyable social experience. These workshops are less focused on finishing a work in a weekend, although many people do that. They are about sharing best practice information and skill-building.
Presented as part of FCAC’s Arts Learning program.
