Originally from Uganda, SK Simeon has become one of Australia’s preeminent dancehall artists. From stunning collaborations with UK label Ninja Tune and producers Cookie Cutters, Machinedrum and more, to performing at some of the country’s largest festivals including Splendour in the Grass, Golden Plains and Red Bull Sound Select, we are honoured to host SK back on the FCAC stage for a memorable dancehall takeover.
From Lagos to New York, Digital Afrika is pushing the frontiers of dance floor orientated afro-house. Their 2018 debut vinyl EP Dark Matter is the productive powers of Future Roots and Si Fixion incorporating live instrumentation, MPC sequencers, African percussion and digital/analog production. After receiving critical acclaim from international taste makers DJ Nicodemus (wonderwheel records), Giles Peterson (BBC1, Brownswood Records) and Carl Cox (Awesomesoundwaves), the pair went on to perform at multiple festivals including highlight performances at Strawberry Fields 2018 and WOMAD 2019.
With Karen Bravo bringing her hypnotic dance moves to the forefront, Digital Afrika is set to make you move.
Well renowned on the Australian circuit as taste-makers of the music and fashion industries with their distinct style and eclectic mixes, MAI prevail as a driving force in the exciting cultural shift we see today across the new generation of music in Australia. A fusion of afrobeats, afrohouse and dancehall rhythms paired effortlessly with the hottest of today’s R&B, UK grime and hip hop is what you can expect from a MAI set – keeping this bold pair at the forefront of what’s hot in Australia right now.
Pookie gets a buzz from creating compositions of hard hitting bass drums and soul vibrating rhythms. She can’t refrain from erecting those same rhythms in her flow patterns when chatting to the mic and the aftermath is a concoction of hip-hop, soul, funk, and jazz.
