Heartlands 2015: Seeking Safety

Presented by AMES in partnership with Footscray Community Arts Centre as part of Refugee Week 2015.

The 2015 Heartlands photographic exhibition transcends cultural barriers to reveal the hopes, dreams and everyday lives of refugee communities across Australia. Award winning lensman Barat Ali Batoor captures the essence of the Burmese Karen community at Nhill, in Western Victoria; Abdul Ibrahim records the vibrant life of the Somali community in Carlton; Conor Ashleigh presents a unique view of the South Sudanese communities in Sydney and Newcastle; while, Andy Drewitt, shares compelling images of communities of post-war refugees from Europe.
