Opening to Art, Introduction – Term 1
Opening to Art: Introductory Drawing and beginning the journey into colour.
In this class we develop a strong foundation in drawing. Working primarily in charcoal to develop observational drawing skills we will then develop form, composition and spatial relationships. Once this drawing foundation is established we will then begin to explore colour with pastels. This class is for beginners and the hope is that as the individuals continue this course they will explore pastels and working with paint as they move through to the Advanced Opening to Art class.
WHEN: Mondays, 30 January – 27 March, 6:30pm – 9pm
COST: $245 / $220 concession (8 sessions)

About FCAC Artist Tutor: Filomena Coppola
Filomena is a contemporary Australia artist based in Melbourne who has exhibited extensively over the past ten years. Concentrating her practice mostly on drawing she has made works ranging in scale from 10 x 10cm to 108 x 800cm. She loves the versatility and expression which drawing brings to its subject. Working mostly with dry pastels she has recently begun working on small sculptural forms, which are then painted in gouache – indulging in the beauty of the miniature and the decadence of detail on that scale. She brings with her a passion for capturing texture, emotion and tactility into her work.
