Opening to Art, Advanced – Term 1
The foundation of this class is drawing – developing drawing skills as well as exploring the connection between the eye, the hand and the mark on the paper. From this strong foundation, students will explore colour and form through working with dry pastels. They will then develop an understanding of basic colour theory and colour mixing through acrylic paints. Learning about composition and image making, students will be able to create individual artworks. Led by artist Filomena Coppola.

About FCAC Artist Tutor: Filomena Coppola
Filomena is a contemporary Australia artist based in Melbourne who has exhibited extensively over the past ten years. Concentrating her practice mostly on drawing she has made works ranging in scale from 10 x 10cm to 108 x 800cm. She loves the versatility and expression which drawing brings to its subject. Working mostly with dry pastels she has recently begun working on small sculptural forms, which are then painted in gouache – indulging in the beauty of the miniature and the decadence of detail on that scale. She brings with her a passion for capturing texture, emotion and tactility into her work.
