Extreme Arts: School Holiday Arts Program – April
Fill your school holidays with extreme arts!
Our April school holiday program is exploding with creative and participatory workshops in animation, circus, digital arts, pottery, and theatre. Children aged 6 – 12 years will create and collaborate alongside artists from the community to learn skills, make new friends and have fun.
Younger children (6 – 9 years) will partake in two workshops per day and the older children (10 – 12 years) participate in full-day intensives.
All artists and support workers are required to complete Working with Children checks.
WHEN: Tuesday 4 April – Thursday 6 April, 10am – 3pm
Before Care: 8:30am – 10am
After Care: 3pm – 5pm
VENUE: Footscray Community Arts Centre
Earlybird (before 12 March)
3 days: $180 / $150; Single day: $90 / $70
Standard (from 13 March)
3 days: $210 / $170; Single day $100 / $80
Please Note: Children take three breaks during the day. Please pack enough snacks and lunch!
Program for children 6 – 9 years:
Creative Circus – Experienced circus performers, Franca Stadler and Jenny McLeod, will get you balancing, tumbling, and undertaking aerial tricks.
Pottery play – Get hands on with clay with Erin from erinswindow and explore making your own clay animals. You’ll paint them ready to fire in the kiln so you can collect the following week.
Recycled mobiles – Emma Grace helps you take the traditional hanging mobile and make it funky! You’ll get a mass of magnificent recycled materials of all colours, shapes and sizes, then it’s up to you to create something wonderful to take home and hang in your home.
Street Dance Fundamentals – Learn a range of styles from hip hop to funk, breakdancing, locking and popping to get you hip on the street! With dancer Trevor Santos from Rebel Stepz.
Stop, Motion, & Animate – Explore a range of stop motion animation techniques with media artist David Pennay and create your own surreal animation.
Wearable Art Fashion Show – Let your imagination run riot and dress up! You’ll use a range of recycled materials to create and design your own wearable art/fashion piece and then strut on the FCAC catwalk. With artists Jen Tran and Hayley Lawson.
Program for children 10 – 12 years:
Augmented Reality (AR) – Explore the world of augmented reality through using the latest apps with David Pennay. You’ll explore a theme and make an augmented reality video pop out in the FCAC gallery.
Creative Circus – Experienced circus performers, Franca Stadler and Jenny McLeod, will get you balancing, tumbling and exploring aerials. You’ll also learn how to juggle and make your own juggling balls to take home.
Be a VJ – Alongside Milica Stanojlovic (aka VJ MELT STATION) you’ll get an overview of the art of the VJ. Mix real time footage and effects and learn how to do live projections.
