Wominjeka Festival 2019: Ceremony

Overview

Water is Life

The beautiful Maribyrnong river is alive, flowing to the bay. The Land our Mother nurtures and nourishes us. Our creeks, rivers, lakes and billabongs are cleansing the Country, like healing waters.

Here in this Land, join the Traditional Custodians of Country as they share their teachings through ceremony and ritual. Join us as we honour and celebrate water, the lifeblood of the Land.

As the last autumn leaves fall to the ground, we invite you to the river to immerse through ceremony, story, show, craft and the ongoing practice of culture. In this way we will reaffirm and deepen Aboriginal identity in its Peoples and its many connections within this Land.

WHEN: Saturday 6 April, 12.30pm – 9.30pm
VENUE: Riverside Lawn, Riverside Lawn Pontoon and FCAC Pier
