Lucy Buxton

Lead Engagement Worker

Lucy B&W

Lucy is an illustrator and creative facilitator who has made Melbourne’s inner-west her home for a number of years. She believes the arts are a powerful vehicle for building connection, providing voice and driving social change. Lucy is committed to exploring ways of supporting artists experiencing marginalisation to be celebrated in the broader contemporary arts landscape.

Before working at FCAC, Lucy facilitated creative programs with the artists at Interact Arts at the Abbotsford Convent, who taught her a great deal about community and the creative process. Her illustration practice has led to commissions for children’s books and branding for local businesses. Lucy has run printmaking workshops and co-facilitated arts projects in partnership with community centres, Colour Box Studios and Maribyrnong City Council.

Lucy graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) and Visual Arts (Printmaking) from Monash University, followed by Arts and Community Engagement at VCA, where she gained critical insight into community-led practice. She is now working towards her Masters of Arts and Cultural Management at the University of Melbourne.
