Martin Paten is widely respected as a key national figure in the Australian arts and festival sectors, having built solid arts industry relationships across urban, regional and remote Australia, and internationally, for almost 30 years. Martin’s work in the Arts commenced with a BA in Fine Art (photography) from Victoria College in 1990.
Martin moved to central Victoria in 2008 and delivered resoundingly successful Castlemaine State Festival events in 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2017, establishing it unequivocally as Australia’s premier Regional Arts Festival, nationally and internationally.
Martin went to the Castlemaine State Festival following 10 years of senior management within the Arts and Culture Branch of the City of Melbourne, where he performed key roles managing their Public Art, Art & Heritage Collection, and International Arts and Major Festivals.
Martin was appointed to the role of Director and CEO, Footscray Community Arts Centre in September 2017.
