Who said you had to leave your neighbourhood for a good laugh? 

We are excited to announce, that for one-night only, Footscray Community Arts will play host to some of the biggest names in comedy, alongside illustrious festival favourites and some of the country’s best new talent. 

This hand-picked line-up of jokesters will keep you laughing close to home and give you a glimpse of what’s hot in the 2023 Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Don’t miss out on this one-off comedy event, sure to keep you laughing- all the way home.

Meet the Comedians
  • Samuel Gebreselassie
    Samuel Gebreselassie

    Samuel is an up-in-coming comedian whose act brings a critical and fresh voice to comedy and social commentary. He was born in Sudan to Ethiopian parents, spent the majority of his life in New Zealand and now lives in Australia. This unorthodox upbringing in an Ethiopian Orthodox family shaped a perceptive of the world that’s unique and hilarious.

  • Gillian Cosgriff
    Gillian Cosgriff

    Gillian is a singer, writer, actor, musician, and comedian who graduated from the WAAPA in 2010 with a Bachelor of Music Theatre. Her theatre credits include Harry Potter And The Cursed Child, Come Rain Or Come Shine and Godspell. Her television credits include Comedy Up Late, Offspring and Get Krack!n. She has toured extensively with her solo shows as a comedian and cabaret performer, winning awards for Best Cabaret at Melbourne Fringe and the Green Room Award Artiste for Cabaret.

    Daniel Connell

    Daniel could easily be described as the ideal Aussie comedian; affable, loveable and hilarious. His observational, dry, often unanticipated comedy has seen him take to stages all over Australia. Daniel has also performed in India, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Scotland.

  • Urvi Majumdar
    Urvi Majumdar

    Urvi is a comedian, writer, actor and producer who has enjoyed a sold-out Melbourne International Comedy Festival season of her first solo show Urvi Went to an All Girls’ School. You can see Urvi in two seasons of Channel 9’s comedy series Metrosexual, look out for her in the recent season of ABC’s critically acclaimed Fisk and hear her on Triple R Radio

  • Andrew Hansen
    Andrew Hansen

    Andrew is best known as a member of iconic Australian comedy group The Chaser, co-writing and starring in The Chaser’s TV shows including CNNNN, The Chaser’s War on Everything, The Chaser Decides, Yes We Canberra!, Media Circus and The Hamster Wheel. All hit shows on ABC, The Chaser garnered two Logie Awards for Most Outstanding Comedy and an AACTA Award for Best Teleplay.
