Happy Art Hour: An Ode to Frida

In celebration of International Women’s Day, we are hosting a very special Frida Kahlo edition of Happy Art Hour. Facilitated by Chilean artist Jessica Ibacache, you will recreate one of Frida’s iconic self-portraits.

While upbeat Latin tunes are playing and corks are popping, you’ll go home with your very own Frida replica. Let your hair down, explore your creative side and celebrate International Women’s Day in a unique way.

Suitable for all levels. No painting experience necessary.

WHEN: Saturday 14 March, 12pm – 3pm
COST: $60 (includes one alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverage, nibbles and materials: canvas, paint, paint brushes).

Jessica Ibacache is an artist, writer and curator based in Melbourne. An underlying theme through her work is the commitment
to breaking down barriers of access to the arts.

Inspired by her Chilean heritage and family’s migration story, her art and writing explores the complexities of Latinx culture including connection to community and familial ties, and the migrant experience and diaspora identity.

She has curated exhibitions at Footscray Community Arts Centre, VU at MetroWest and Loop Project Space, and produced creative events at Emerging Writers Festival and One Night in Footscray. Jessica is the co-founder of Yo Soy – a Melbourne-based collective for Latinx creatives.
