Panel Discussion – exile, loss & mourning
Join us for a fascinating panel discussion about the rituals associated with mourning, in collaboration with the Jewish Museum of Australia. The subject is inspired by artist-in-residence Deborah Leiser-Moore’s performance piece – M: Kaddish for the Children. Her performance uses the Greek mythological figure, Medea, to explore exile and loss. In this feminist version she is given voice to mourn these losses.
The discussion will be facilitated by FCAC Program Manager Bernadette Fitzgerald, and speakers include Deborah Leiser-Moore, La Trobe University academic and playwright Prof. Peta Tait, editor of Kaddish: Women’s Voices Barbara Ashkenas, and Mutti Mutti/Wamba Wamba/Yorta Yorta/Boonwurrung artist Maree Clarke.
WHEN: Sunday 3 February, 2pm
VENUE: Jewish Museum of Australia, 26 Alma Rd, St Kilda
COST: Museum and FCAC Members $10 / Full $15 (Includes access to all galleries)
Presented in partnership with Jewish Museum of Australia.
