School Holiday Arts Program – April
FCAC Temporarily Closed – April’s School Holiday Arts Program Cancelled.
In light of the Australian Government’s recent advice on COVID-19, April’s School Holiday Arts Program has been cancelled. Please click here to read our full media release outlining the impact on upcoming events.
The impact of COVID-19 will be drastically felt by artists, arts workers as well as independent and small to medium organisations including FCAC. As a venue, our sustainability is largely tied to the delivery of our programs and hiring of our facilities, which has been adversely impacted by COVID-19. If you have the capacity to provide a financial contribution to support the artists, arts workers and communities we platform, you can do so by clicking here.

Program for children 6 – 9 years (Grade 1-4):
Children 6-9 years rotate through two workshops each day. Generally the children are grouped into Grade 1-2 (6-7 yrs) and Grade 3-4 (8-9yrs) groups and explore:
Run away with the circus and join experienced circus trainers and performers, Franca Stadler and Maya Green, who will get you balancing, tumbling, and undertaking aerial tricks. Over two days you’ll explore a host of different circus techniques from tissue loops to trapeze and everything in between. The best thing is circus is non-competitive and suitable for kids at all levels.
Get creative with a series of hands-on workshops exploring alternative ways of printmaking indoor / outdoor surfaces. Visual artists Ana Rita Pires & Mito Elias will lead and facilitate a number of encounters around the art of printmaking. Children will engage in a short history of this ancient technique, to then continue and delve into the joys of modern-day printing. Ana Rita & Mito and all participants will explore and print urban features and textures like manholes covers, pavers, grates and other surfaces onto clothes and fabrics. Every print will be made directly from the street using eco-friendly ink and processes, to encourage children to create sustainable art.
Without fail, a huge hit every year, graffiti art at FCAC makes this holiday program one of a kind. It has been so popular that we have introduced it now for younger kids as well, so everyone can enjoy in this free-style form of expression! Learn the art and techniques of the spray can and discover some of street art’s freehand and stencil techniques with graffiti artist SEARious Jones.
Program for children 10 – 12 years (Grade 5-6):
Children aged 10-12 get to enjoy a whole day of each of these exciting activities!
