West Writers Forum: Behind the Screens


Behind the Screens is a response to the underrepresentation of diverse voices in the Australian screen industry. The program aims to create tangible access to pathways and opportunities for emerging filmmakers in Melbourne’s West through a day of workshops, activities and access to a year-long mentoring network. Curated by Santilla Chingaipe.

Registrations for Behind the Screens will be managed through an expression of interest process to ensure diverse representation in the workshops. Please complete the form by clicking on the link below and someone will be in touch. Limited spots available. Expressions of interest close on Thursday 15 August, 5pm.

WHEN: Saturday, 31 August, 10am – 4pm
VENUE: Footscray Community Arts Centre
COST: Free. Expression of interest required.

Artist bio:

Santilla Chingaipe
Santilla Chingaipe is an award-winning journalist and filmmaker. Her work explores contemporary migration, cultural identities and politics. She reports regularly for The Saturday Paper and is a member of the federal government’s Advisory Group on Australia–Africa Relations.

Behind the Screens is supported by Film Victoria, AFTRS, SBS and Screen Australia.
