A Footscray local for over 10 years, David owns and operates 3Hand Studios, an animation production studio. In addition to directing and producing various animation projects, he’s a new media artist and also develops art based installations and visual projections. He is a highly experienced creative facilitator working with all age groups from toddlers to seniors and has delivered inclusive workshop programs.
David currently lectures at RMIT University for the School of Media and Communication and is employed part time at Footscray Community Arts as a Teaching Artist, facilitating multiple animation and digital media across the ArtLife and Creative Workshops programs.
Alongside his work at Footscray Community Arts, David has helped participants to use animation as an expression of identity, including Creative Victoria’s “Artist in Schools” projects, run a Hothouse and other workshops at ACMI and guided participants in generating award winning public projects such as Little Big Shots 2010 and Gertrude Street Projection Festival 2017.
David graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Animation and Interactive Media (RMIT, 2008) and has delivered programs with Footscray Community Arts since 2008. Outside of arts and technology David’s passion also extends into permaculture and beekeeping through his love of nature.
