Jade Backhouse-Walker
Jade is passionate about creativity and arts-led practice as an essential foundation for self-expression. With experience in design, project management, school and community engagement, and facilitation, Jade is constantly exploring ways to create opportunities for connection, expression and empowerment, centring under-represented communities.
Working in the not-for-profit sector, Jade has focused on building community-aligned partnerships supporting mental health awareness, and coordinating free programs to empower young people to feel represented, celebrated and valued. With a Bachelor of Arts (Textile Design) majoring in Print and an Associate Degree in Fashion Design and Technology at RMIT University, Jade has worked as a commercial textile designer, leading Work Integrated Learning programs to support emerging textile designers to gain industry experience and explore their creative potential.
