Vyshnavee Wijekumar (Vy) has an extensive background in marketing and development within the festival and film distribution space, working with both Australian and international content. Previous roles include working at Village Roadshow on the marketing of Australian Broadcasting Corporation titles and Marketing Executive at the popular Indian Film Festival of Melbourne. Vy joined the Human Rights Arts & Film Festival in September 2014, and following the 2016 Festival, was promoted from Marketing & Development Manager to Marketing & Partnerships Director. She also recently moderated a panel on ‘Women Getting a Start in Screen Culture’ at the inaugural 2017 Melbourne Women in Film Festival and participated in a live reading presented by Behind the Wire at the 2017 Melbourne Writers Festival.
A female of Sri Lankan Tamil heritage, Vy is incredibly passionate about issues pertaining to refugees, migrants and women as well as the plight of First Nations peoples.
She has a strong affinity with the work FCAC does in the community arts space and cannot wait to work with and learn from the incredibly experienced team that have made the organisation a leader within the Victorian cultural sector.
