Footscray Community Arts Centre is thrilled to invite you to a presentation of a new work by our commissioned playwright Vivian Nguyen — Werkaholics.
Werkaholics follows Lilian on her journey to stardom with her best friend and struggling actor, Jillian. Until she’s exposed for being a liar by cultural zeitgeist icon Unmoi, Lilian relies on manifestation and luck to overcome the cancel PR backlash. Or so we think.
Inspired by the rise and fall of influencers, scam artists, endless memes on Reddit, and the precarious nature of life on social media and capitalism, Werkaholics is an entertaining and dynamic work interrogating women’s relationship to money and liberation in the 21st century.
Ahead of the reading, we’re reaching out to invite you to save the date. With an artistic team aspiring to bring the life of the internet on stage, we’d love for you to have a glimpse into this high concept of bringing digital art and theatre together.
