A boy lost in his grief. A man lost in ego.
A mother desperate to save her child’s soul.
I Met an Angel Named Jacques is set in a real world that is completely made up. L’or is a well respected artist creating bold and daring work, he’s at the top of his game, all eyes are on him, there’s no room for error. Jacques is an ambitious writer, a cultural critic, his words are sharp and unfiltered. Dare shut him up.
An interview between Jacques and L’or inflames unhealed wounds and sparks curiosity for each other’s minds that leads to complicated emotions. This commission-winning play explores the human need for validation and the lengths we’d go to find it. I Met an Angel Named Jacques is a fresh take on the dynamics of dysfunctional relationships and the consequences of clinging tight to the familiar, even when those relationships become alien to us …
