VU Play – Playwork Pop-Up Projects

Thursday, 28 May - Thursday, 6 August

10am - 12pm
Event Information

Victoria University will be providing a free weekly pop-up play space at Footscray Community Arts front lawns where VU early-childhood education students are on hand to facilitate play by providing a variety of items (loose parts) for children to explore, create and engage with.

Early-childhood education students are on hand to facilitate play by providing a variety of items for children to explore, create and engage with.

Each of the sites has a mentor who is trained in the ideas and practice of Playwork, has up-to-date First Aid, Working With Children Check and  CPR training, and is there to support the students.

Playwork is the work of creating and maintaining spaces for children to play. The theory and practice of Playwork recognises that children’s play must be ‘Freely chosen, personally driven and intrinsically motivated.’ The Playwork Principles are the ethical and professional framework that underpins Playwork practice.

This is a Footscray Community Arts and Victoria University partnership program.
