Daniel Jack Lyon’s portrait photography visualises and empowers the trans and queer communities living in the Amazon Rainforest, made in collaboration with Casa do Rio, a community-based organisation that celebrates and supports the cultural lives of teenagers and young people living in the Amazon.

Lyons’ portraits explore how deep Indigenous traditions and modern identity politics meet.

Artworks are located across the Riverside Lawn, Myrtle Café, Lawn River & Pier and Weaving Sustainable Futures garden.


This exhibition is part of Queer PHOTO, a site-wide activation comprising large-scale outdoor works, indoor gallery exhibitions, and an interactive public program by local and international artists as part of Midsumma Festival. Check out Queer PHOTO Exhibition for more information.
