Event Information

An ode to Western Melbourne.

Co-presented by Footscray Community Arts and The Substation, Neighbourhood spans across a number of notable venues including The Bowery Theatre, Incinerator Gallery, West Space, as well as along the West’s train lines and public spaces.

Dance around Nicholson Street Mall; honour ancestry through performance; immerse in the world of an artist and feast from handmade ceramics – embrace Neighbourhood’s curated program and celebrate place, community and humanity in Melbourne’s West.

A multi artform and deeply-engaging festival program will take you all over the west of Melbourne, showing you the best that our Neighbourhood has to offer.

Beyond our physical Neighbourhood, a number of contemporary performances by artists will bring fresh perspective to their connection to place.

Come along and gain unique insight into the different cultures, practices and challenges experienced by the festival’s artists.

Neighbourhood will spotlight the communities that make up Western Melbourne’s social fabric – uplifting their voices to create social change and shape contemporary Australian identity.

Through active participation and engagement, Neighbourhood celebrates contemporary creativity that revitalises and challenges the soul.

From individual reflection to shared experiences, the festival will connect you to broader issues; provide a safe place for conversation; and reveal to you the beauty of our common humanity found right here in our Neighbourhood.
